第３回 自信を持って英語が話せるようになろう！
6月29日のオープンキャンパス体験授業では、プラザ先生が授業を行いました。高校時代に学んだ英語を使って、自信を持って話せるようになることを目的とした授業でした。自信をもって話すための工夫としてAAA (answer, add, ask) methodを使いました。英語で質問されたら、それに答え（answer）、さらにそこに一言加えて（add）、そして今度は相手に質問する（ask）というやり方です。オープンキャンパス・スタッフをしている英語コミュニケーション専攻の学生も加わり、とても楽しい雰囲気の中で授業を体験していただくことができました。

The Komazawa Women’s University English Communication course held their third open campus event of the 2019 academic year on Saturday 29th June. Many students took part, accompanied by their family members. After an explanation of the different classes and opportunities on offer in our course, we moved onto the demonstration class.
The title of the demonstration class was ‘Speaking English with Confidence.’ It was designed to give the students an opportunity to use the English they had learned in high school and build their confidence with conversation skills. After introducing each other and spending some time warming up, the teacher, Taron Plaza, introduced students to the AAA (answer, add, ask) method. The students then tried it with questions they wrote themselves. First they answered the questions, then they added some extra information, and then they asked a follow up question. Something special about this activity was that four Komajo students also joined. This gave the visitors and Komajo students an opportunity to get to know each other while practicing English together. Everyone seemed to enjoy the activity, as well as getting to know each other.
This was a very active class, and all the students did a great job taking part. We hope to see them all again at a future open campus event.
第４回 駒沢女子大学だけのユニークなオリジナル授業、「English Workshop」!
7月6日のオープンキャンパスでは駒沢女子大学英語コミュニケーション専攻のオリジナル科目である「English Workshop」 の授業を紹介し、参加してくださった方々に実際に英語でプラザ先生、モリス先生と話してもらいました。
2年生の必修科目であるこの授業の特色は2つあります。1つは教科書がないことです。毎回重要な英文法を含む文がキーセンテンスとして与えられ、受講者はその文法を用いた文を作ります。一人一人がLearning Diaryと呼ぶ自分だけの学習記録帳を作り、キーセンテンスで学んだ文法や自分に必要な語彙を記していきます。英語の映画や歌詞から気に入った表現を基に自分の伝えたいことを書くことも、実際の日記を書くこともあります。英語母語話者の先生からもらったヒントを基により良い表現にして書き直し、次の授業のカンバセーションで使ってみます。これが各自の教科書替わりとなります。もう1つは英語母語話者の教員と日本語母語話者教員がペアで受講者を少人数に分け担当することです。
言語の習得にはインプットとアウトプットが必要ですが、日本の英語学習環境では英語で考え、英語を使用する機会が限られています。English Workshop の授業を受ければ、自然に英語を使っている自分に気づくはずです。
参加者の皆様にはプラザ先生、モリス先生とグループを作り、当日のキーセンテンスを使いながら会話をしていただきました。皆様、初対面にもかかわらず笑顔がこぼれる和気あいあいとした雰囲気の中、英語で会話を楽しんでくださいました。参加してくださった皆様、ありがとうございました。
